Project Introduction

This special exhibition, curated by Watershed in collaboration with the State Tretyakov Gallery, presents 56 exceptional works spanning 500 years of Russian art. The collection, featuring pieces like Osif Braz’s Portrait of Chekhov, Isaak Brodsky’s Portrait of Gorky, and Fyodor Alekseyev’s Red Square, illustrates the diverse styles, themes, and historical depth of Russian painting.

The exhibition explores “Russian Art” and “Russia in Art,”inviting viewers to engage with the emotions, perspectives, and historical contexts captured by Russian artists. This cross-cultural experience offered Chinese audiences a fresh lens on Russia’s artistic legacy.
